Cheers!

Sunday night I finally got to see the much-awaited Happy-go-Lucky at the Naro; it was tres cute! I even got a date at the last minute, score! My Daddy, who probably just came for lack of nothing better to do, can be a pretty tough critic and even he enjoyed it. I'm not much of a critic myself so take from what I thought of the flick what you will. I liked it for three main reasons...

One- the accents. If you know anything about me at all you know that I'm obsessed with accents. Personally, I like to impersonate the Kiwi dialect from time to time. I even go so far as to answer the Naro telephone when the feeling hits with this particular accent; one lady even asked me if I was Australian, to which I replied "No way! Kiwi, thank you very much! They say "park the car" we say "park the car" the accents are completely different." So listening to Poppy and all the characters in Happy-go-Lucky was music to my ears.

Two-the wardrobe. The wardrobe that Poppy wears is ridiculous! The movie starts out in a club scene so you think "Ok, she's just wearing those crazy clothes because she's out and about." Think again! It never ends! So bright and colorful; Poppy was pretty much every gay man's wet dream.

Three- it was totally random. There's no real story line, except for the sub-story of Poppy and her driving instructor Scott. Depending on your worldview this is one of the most true to life movie plots ever because it's just a random progression of events where nothing really matters. Poppy takes a dance class. Poppy does trampolining. Poppy goes to the chiropractor. Poppy visits her sister. Poppy meets a boy. Poppy befriends a homeless man, etc. No real conclusion or wrap-up to the story. It just ends. With plenty of loose ends to be tied up.

Me likey.
